Richard A. Hagopian Best of Armenian Folk Music
In this CD, Richard Hagopian (ud and vocals) is accompanied by Harold Hagopian (kanun and violin) and Hagop Jack Zarzatian (dumbek and def). We will briefly review Richard Hagopian. "Richard Hagopian was born in 1937 of Armenian parents near Fresno, in the central San Joacquin Valley of California. He demonstrated his musical interests early, beginning to study the violin and clarinet at age nine. A year later, he took up ud, studying with the renowned Armenian artist, kanuni Garbis Bakirgian. As artist in residence, he has taught at California State University, Fresno and performed throughout the United States, presenting a master class at Manhattan School of Music."
