Marcel Khalife, Al Mayadine Jadal / Oud Duo Al Mayadine Ensembel includes Marcel Khalife (oud), Charbel Rouhana (oud), Ali El Khatib (riq), and Abboud El Saadi (bass). Marcel Khalife is a Lebanese musician, yet this album is solely contemporary music for oud and that is why it is being categorized under "Contemporary" rather than "Lebanon." He studied the Near Eastern lute, known in Arabid as the oud at the National Academy of Music in Beirut ... Marcel taught at the National Academy of Music and other institutions from 1970 to 1975. During that time, he also performed solo concerts throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and North America. In 1972, Marcel formed a group of musicians in Amchit, the town he was born. The group, which then performed in Lebanon want, wanted to revive Arabic music and choral heritage.
