Omar Bachir

Zykrayati

"Born in Budapest in 1970, Omar Bashir started playing the 'ud at the age of 5, tutored by his father, the renowned 'ud player, Munir Bashir. When he turned seven, he began studying music and ballet in Baghdad. He played solo for the first time when he was 9 years old at a school presentation. Following his graduation from the Academy of Music and Ballet, he pursued his art studies at the Conservatory of Baghdad. During this period he played solo 'ud in several musical events. Back to Hungary, he carried on, in the Music Department of the University of Sciences, a specialization in teaching choir singing and musical theory." (information from CD's program notes"
