Cinucen Tanrikorur

Turquie

"Cinucen Tanrikorur was born in Istanbul (Turkey) in 1938. Steeped in the permanent presence of Turkish traditional music, he devoted himself to this art form at a very early age. He began as a self-taught singer, ud player and composer. He is an example of the exception that proves the rule in that he never followed the long period of training in regular contact with a single master ... At the age 22, after a strict admission competition, he became a musician in the Istanbul Radio ... Later he was responsible for the traditional music section in the Ankara Public Radio for several years. Today, he is a world famous soloists and a teacher in the Selcuk University of Konya." (written by Marc Loopuyt, translated by Derek Yeld, from CD's program notes)
